Ferry Crossing

Date Built: 1847

The first ferry license in Lane County was issued to Eugene Skinner, who started his ferry at this key location crossing the Willamette in 1847. This became the center of the new community as James Huddleston moved his store from Skinner's cabin to the ferry site. The building of the first bridge there in 1876 ended the ferry.
